Half of Google users are females but Google Australia can't find any female engineers who want to work for it.

The company hired more than 10 engineers from five ethnic backgrounds - but despite its best efforts, not a single woman.

In the US (and Australia), where women represent half the workforce and half the graduates, just 18 per cent of scientists or engineers are women. Google US has a comparable proportion of women engineers in its ranks.
