Norton Genius: Symantec's answer to Google Gdrive or Microsoft Live Drive
With virus threats no longer being as big a concern today as they were say two years back, Symtanc is considering to expand in other lucrative businesses like online file storage.
Norton Genesis for Windows Vista and Windows XP will be a new subscription-based downloadable web service from Symatec that will automatically backup your digital files to an online site.
File storage could witness some tough competition in the coming months as all major internet players are entering the space. Google is rumored to be developing a storage service called Gdrive that would make things like digital photos and music accessible from any PC. Even Ray Ozzie disclosed that Microsoft is developing a similar technology, dubbed Live Drive.
Genesis is scheduled to be available to consumers by the end of 2007. An ongoing subscription fee will cover all updates and a designated amount of online storage for backup.
